Abstraction sits at the heart of everything I make. It's where I keep learning, through mark-making, through mixing mediums and colour, through working out what a surface needs next. This piece took weeks of abstract mark and colour to arrive at, built through spontaneous expression rather than a fixed plan.

It grows out of the same instinct that drives my landscape work, just without the view to anchor it. I wanted to see where that spontaneity could take you, and my hope is that it leaves you with a sense of intrigue: something to keep looking into rather than resolve at a glance.
