March Newsletter: Spring in the air, a spring in my art

I have been doing a number of updates on my website with new paintings; a new art partnership with the Crab and Lobster in Sidlesham; and a new page that talks about all things Creativity and Happiness. (I'll add to this over the coming months too).

As always, if there is anything that takes your fancy or you would like to see in the flesh, please get in touch as studio visits are very welcome and also I can send more detailed images of work you might like. Email me directly.

The new work has I hope pushed the boundaries of what paint and place can achieve. I am very obsessed with capturing that one moment and the paint expressing that particular second and experience in the land. Some are a little more abstract and different but I hope still give you, the viewer, a deeper connection with the location - whether your heart belongs to England or Scotland!

Crab and Lobster partnership: view my work while you drink and dine

Four new pieces of my work are now adorning the walls in the spectacular Crab & Lobster in Sidlesham, West Sussex.

What a lovely dedicated team of people that make this place so gorgeous. it’s been a dream of mine to find a West Sussex coastal location to hang my work and make it available for purchase. A win:win for me and the Crab and Lobster.

Pop in if you get the chance -they've recently had a refurbishment and it looks beautiful! And the beer is outstanding!

A new series of works: HOME

This new body of work is from a few days spent in the dunes at The Witterings on the south coast of England. The paintings for me express the light and skies that constantly display on this particular part of the world.

Castle Gallery Solo Show ... roundup.

Last year was a very difficult year and I feel very pleased that we are on the way out of what has been an unbelievable year. Last year the solo show was, understandably, cancelled. To say I was disappointed was an understatement I think was in more of a shock, as the 2 years work just went to nothing — that’s how it felt.

It was a surreal experience to prepare for a solo show and it be cancelled, that had never happened before. Like everyone, it was about a new way of working and a new way of thinking about how to create and getting your paintings in front of people. As the year progressed Denise (who's run the Castle Gallery for over 20yrs) said "let's aim for 2021 in the June", I remember at the time in March of last year thinking "Oh my god that is ages away!". But as the months rolled on I relished the blessing of lockdown and that it enabled me to work (almost) every waking hour.

I worked harder than I ever had in my 25+yr career. I think it was almost like someone had said you have as much time as possible to do the work. In between homeschooling and work I managed, like everyone, just !

The result was the show that has currently just happened at the Castle Gallery has been an incredible success . The best solo show I have ever had, sales exceeded all expectations and the people's response to the work was the stuff of dreams. Thank you — buyer or browser, you made it special.

The work now will remain at the Castle Gallery for the foreseeable future and there are a few pieces left. Please visit the Gallery website to view/purchase and they will happily send worldwide.

Thanks again for all your lovely kind words and also for supporting me throughout.

Stay happy, healthy and creative.
