The most beautiful place on Earth is an island called Mull—every corner of this spectacular island is breathtaking. There's a detailed beauty like no other island I've experienced, landscapes as old as time and ever-changing skies in the most dramatic way.

In this particular painting, I wanted the power of the sunset over Ulva to come across, so I used silvers and golds to really accentuate that magical light. The way the sunset rays cut through the dramatic sky and reflect across the water creates an almost spiritual quality to the scene. You can see the silhouette of Ulva Island amongst the other landforms, each one creating layers of depth.

The foreground vegetation frames the view naturally, drawing you into this remote Highland setting where time seems to stand still. I wanted you to feel the place rather than just see it—to sense that profound quiet that comes with being somewhere so untouched and wild.

The Isle of Mull boasts some of the most stunning landscapes in the world, and it was a privilege to witness such beauty. The way the light changes throughout the day in the Highlands is unlike anywhere else, creating these moments of pure magic that you never forget.
