The dramatic skies over Norfolk's agricultural landscape called for bold contrasts that day. I used vigorous strokes in the foreground to capture the brilliant yellow of the rapeseed fields, while touches of green marked the field margins.

Above, the pewter clouds threatened rain, created through layers of grey and pearl with hints of blue breaking through. My marks became more dynamic in the sky, suggesting incoming weather, while the solid dark line of trees anchored the horizon.
