West Wittering boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, and it is always a fascination for me to paint clouds well. This painting captures the pure beauty of the subtle changes of tone that clouds present to us as they drift across the sky.

I'm continually drawn to the way clouds form and shift above my local coastline and I don’t think my obsession with clouds will ever subside. Layers upon layers of paint adding depth, while the dune grasses in the foreground hold you close; part of the place.

My hope with this painting is that you find yourself drifting off, watching these passing clouds and feeling that sense of peace that comes from lying on the beach or simply observing the ever-changing sky while on a walk. There's something deeply restorative about this simple pleasure.
