As you walk around East Head, right at the very end, you get this beautiful view of the South Downs across the water. I love this walk because you suddenly feel miles from anywhere, watching boats calmly heading out to sea.

The light always catches the sand at the tip, and the colour combinations can look almost tropical—those turquoise shallows against warm sand and deep blues further out. It feels like a tiny oasis, this protected corner where the harbour meets the open water. On summer days especially, there's something about the quality of light here that makes you want to just settle in and stay.
