Spring brings some of the most spectacular light and skies to the Witterings. I'm obsessed with capturing it: the way moving clouds reflect in the tide, the colours shifting across the sand.

This painting took weeks. Getting the light right meant working with very subtle, intense brush marks to build something that feels calm rather than forced.

That reflecting light is so hard to paint because it's constantly changing, but when you get it, you know. East Head at its most peaceful.
