Bracklesham Bay, Shifting Winds
Bracklesham Bay, Shifting Winds
This painting took months, and I'm so pleased with where it landed. Painting a moving sea on a windy day is one of the hardest things to do.
The colours you think are there shift the moment you look again, and there's always more on the palette than you expected. The rich turquoise tones carry real power here, pushing against deep darks and broken whites where the foam catches the light.
I wanted you to feel the energy of that wind-driven surf. The way the sea doesn't pause, doesn't settle, just keeps building and crashing. Bracklesham Beach has some of the best views on the south coast of England, and it never fails to pull me back.
This painting does exactly what it should: it moves. The shifting winds are in the paint.
