Knoydart Sunset, Highlands of Scotland
Knoydart Sunset, Highlands of Scotland
Knoydart was the first place I ever visited in Scotland, and I was speechless when I first painted there. The beauty of the Highlands is like nowhere else on Earth—a truly magnificent place that feels untouched by time.
This particular sunset at Knoydart is one I will never forget. The way the light caught the silhouettes of the mountains and reflected across the still water was absolutely breathtaking. I've tried to capture that perfect mirror effect where the sky and water become one continuous canvas of colour—those deep purples and blues blending into warm golds and pinks.
What makes Knoydart so special is its remoteness. With no roads leading there, you truly feel like you're experiencing Scotland's last wilderness. It's a magical place where the land offers new scenery every second of every day. The light changes constantly, creating these moments of pure drama that make your heart skip a beat.
I wanted to convey that sense of being completely surrounded by this incredible landscape. Standing there as the sun set behind those ancient mountains, with the water so perfectly still, was one of those painting moments that stays with you forever.
I will always love the Highlands and this very special place called Knoydart. It changed the way I see landscape painting in Scotland entirely.
